ETPB takes over fisheries office for default on rent

LAHORE: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) sealed on Friday the head office of the Punjab Fisheries Department for not paying monthly rent for a long time. The ETPB also took over department’s building situated on Sanda Road.

“After office hours, our security and admin staff sealed and took over the possession of the head office (Directorate General of Fisheries Department),” spokesperson for the ETPB Amir Hashmi told Dawn.

“There was no option but to take such an extreme action after the department failed to pay over Rs64 million (accumulative monthly bills pending for last many years). The ETPB is the owner of the property the fisheries department a tenant. We served a series of notices on the department before taking the step.”

Before action, the administration also provided the staff with an opportunity to vacate the building.

“We plan to shift some of our own offices to the place,” reads an ETPB press release.
